CM Punjab Free Livestock Program 2025 – September Update

CM Punjab Free Livestock Program 2025

CM Punjab Free Livestock Program 2025:The Government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched the Free Livestock Program 2025 to empower rural women through sustainable income opportunities. The initiative provides free livestock — including cows, buffaloes, and goats — to low-income, widowed, and divorced women across 12 districts of South Punjab.

Program Overview

The aim of the program is to offer a long-term livelihood asset rather than temporary aid. Beneficiaries receive livestock, training, veterinary support, and initial fodder assistance to help them generate income through milk production and animal offspring.

This initiative is part of the broader Livestock Asset Transfer Program, with a total budget of PKR 2 billion. It focuses on increasing women’s financial independence and reducing rural poverty.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be female, preferably widowed or divorced
  • Age below 55 years
  • Resident of one of the 12 target districts
  • Have no steady income or previous livestock assets
  • Provide valid documents such as CNIC, proof of marital status, and income level

Verification is done through NADRA records and field visits to ensure transparency and fair selection.

Application Process

Registration began in June 2025, with the last date set as August 31, 2025. However, outreach and door-to-door registration are continuing in September for women who could not apply earlier.

Applicants can register:

  • Online through the Punjab Livestock Portal or mobile app
  • Offline via local livestock offices, facilitation centers, or field teams

Once approved, beneficiaries receive confirmation via SMS and are guided to collect their animals from distribution centers.

What Beneficiaries Receive

Successful applicants are provided with:

  • Free livestock (cow, buffalo, or goats depending on need and availability)
  • Veterinary services, vaccinations, and health checks
  • Initial fodder supply
  • Training on livestock care, milk production, and marketing
  • Livestock Identity Card or Livestock Card (for tracking and services)

Milk collection points are also being set up in local areas to support women in selling milk quickly and efficiently.

September 2025 Updates

As of September:

  • Livestock distribution is complete in most districts
  • Monitoring teams are checking animal health and supporting women with training
  • Door-to-door outreach continues to register left-out eligible women
  • Veterinary care and fodder support are being provided free of charge
  • Some areas are still accepting late registrations due to local delays or flood-affected zones

Challenges and Considerations

The program, while impactful, faces some challenges:

  • Logistics: Transporting animals to remote areas and ensuring their care
  • Training needs: Some beneficiaries need more support to manage livestock effectively
  • Fraud prevention: Maintaining transparency through digital and field verification
  • Awareness: Reaching women in the most remote or disadvantaged communities

Despite these, the scheme is being praised for shifting aid from short-term cash to productive, income-generating assets.
